Slide 33 of 37
Notes:
Not all of the rules for film will necessarily apply to the web--one major differences is the linear nature of film. But there are things we can learn from listening to the movies...and we can do better than our present attempts
First, consider message you’re communicating before you choose sound--use sound WITH your site (and not against it)
To tell your story--and I'm using story more in the context of message here--choose sounds that help people FEEL your story.
Spend as much effort on choosing sound as pictures and words
Consider environments of users
Remember the web is a permission- based environment (and people are always a click away from leaving your site) so you must give them CONTORL over the sound
